Recommended. I've tried an array of phone and tablet stands through the years. This is by far the best I've ever used.
The stand is made of a lightweight metal, coated on all sides. The product photos show a gray coating. Mine is black. The coating is resistant to nicks and scratches.
The cradle can be angled through an amazing range, allowing positions from horizontal to vertical (and beyond, though why you'd go beyond, I wouldn't know). Changing the angle takes effort – once positioned, it isn't going to shift because it is tapped. (It might move if you tapped like an angry typist trying to slam through a keyboard, but not otherwise). The cradle includes pads to prevent a phone or tablet from resting directly against metal. The pads are perfectly positioned – squared, line up, well-affixed – just another touch of quality.
The bottom of the cradle is gapped to allow for use of power cables. The cradle is not designed for use of inductive charging (a/k/a wireless charging). I did set an iPhone on the cradle with an Apple MagSafe charger attached – that approach can be made to work, but it is awkward – the MagSafe charger is too thick for the design, forcing the iPhone slightly away from the back of the cradle.
The base of the stand is wide, making it more stable than many other designs I've used. The cradle can be rotated 360° around the base. It clicks lightly as it is rotated. It stays where it is stopped. A bump isn't going to send it spinning.
This product is pricy compared to other stands – $39.99 at the time of this review – but you get what you pay for. This product is rock solid, nice looking, versatile – well worth the price.
