So first things first, this has got to be the best coffee pod machine on the market that I've tried (and I've sampled the whole Nespresso original line range, Dolce Gusto, and Tassimo). The creama is nice and thick, and the overall cup is better than anything in most mainstream coffee shops in this region. I have not had issues with the coffee being not hot enough–but I do not like my drinks scalding hot as a matter of personal preference.
Pros: relatively good selection of pods, with different sizes depending on how much caffeine you need to get through the day. My favourite currently is the Aflorazio, but it would have been nice if it came in the 270ml size instead of only 150ml. Coffee actually tastes good, and not just good for a single use dispenser.
Machine aesthetics look good in most kitchens (although this like everything else is subjective).
I also like that the pods are aluminium and not plastic, and that Nespresso has a convenient robust recycling program where we can just put the used pods in the Gelbsack (although I wonder about Aluminium pods and other side effects like Alzheimers sometimes).
Cons: longevity–my unit is only about 3 months old and makes 2 cups of coffee a day. Even so, it has apparently sprouted a water leak at the bottom in the front. This is definitely not from the hook on spill catcher/cup rest, but from below the unit at the "front right foot". Nespresso customer service has been very responsive and seems to think it's due to hard water (although I only ever use boiled, Brita filtered water in here and change my filters regularly). They've sent a decalking kit which I will need to collect and see if it solves the issue…
I also wish there were 3rd party capsules that were compatible like there are for the original line. The Nespresso coffee selection is good, but having more choice can't hurt… Capsules are also harder to find in certain regions as the Vertuoline is not sold in every country.
Edit April 2020:
The limescale cleaning kit was used but the leak remained, so Nespresso then immediately sent me a water tank replacement (they do have excellent responsive customer service). However, the leak then stopped as mysteriously as it started, just before I received the replacement tank.
As of right now the unit has so far remained leak free again without the need to change the tank (fingers crossed), and I am happy with being able to get decent coffee at home especially now with the lockdown. I've upgraded my review to 5* as such.
Overall yes I do recommend it especially if it goes on sale, and over the original line range. I would advice to use this only with filtered water (the softer the better…)
