I bought the Pulse M after reading countless reviews and ignoring the negative issues. Unfortunately, this purchase became one of the worst customer and use experiences I've had in recent times.
The Pulse M is a beautiful and well-built speaker. However, as an ordinary user, the sound is mediocre, particularly at low volumes. In comparison, a tiny and much cheaper Bluetooth JBL Flip speaker provides a much pleasant sense of space. If I could choose again, I would gladly trade my Pulse M at a loss.
However, the mediocre sound is just the beginning of my horror story. The BluOS iOS app (on an iPhone 14 Pro and a 1.5 Gb wireless connection at home) is slow and frustrating. But the biggest issue seems to be the connectivity between the app and my Pulse M speaker. Most often than not, the connection is dropped and not restored after restarting the app or unplugging the speaker. In practical terms, this is my story:
I love listening music for an hour or so in the evenings while I cook. But, most of the time, the Pulse M doesn't work in the kitchen. So, I don't use it anymore and I have replaced it with the sound of my iPhone internal speaker.
Something interesting. The Pulse M does not work adequately in my kitchen, roughly 4 m and one wall away from the router. These days the Pulse M is sitting in another room at an equivalent distance and also behind a wall. It seems to work fine here. So, perhaps you will be luckier and buy the Pulse M that works in the room where you need it most!
Bluesound promotes itself as a company that support its customers. Just look for "Bluesound Listening Commitment." I must acknowledge that I was impressed this afternoon when I received an email from Bluesound stating that they have not forgotten the support request I submitted ONE WEEK AGO! Unfortunately for me, Bluesound is "seeing a higher volume of calls but have been working even harder." I have heard this before from pretty much every single customer support department I have reached out to since before the pandemic. I find it rather insulting.
In summary, my perception of the Pulse M's beauty and mediocre sound are just opinions. But, my experience using the product and requesting support are facts. I hope they help buyers make an informed decision.
